Service unit outshines turbine sales for Nordex

After an unusually difficult 2017, German turbine manufacturer Nordex can find solace in its service division, where the orderbook is growing bigger than the value of turbine orders. But most of the reasons for this new balance are not positive for the turbine maker.

While German turbine manufacturer Nordex took a beating last year – as most wind turbine producers did around the world – the German firm took different types of hits.

New framework conditions and price pressure in the wind turbine sector decimated the order book in the project division at Nordex, which handles the manufacturing and sales of wind turbines. The damage was so great that the company's orderbook was bigger at the end of the year than the firm's core business so far of producing turbines, shows the Nordex 2017 report, released Tuesday.
