Greenpeace accuses Norway of violating climate deal

If the court rules in favor of the environmental organizations, the consequences could extend far beyond the country of Norway, says Greenpeace.

Courtroom 250 at the Oslo District Court was packed with observers when Judge Hugo Abelsbeth launched a trial this Tuesday at 9:00am (CET) in a case filed against the Norwegian government.

Environmental organizations Greenpeace Nordic and Nature and Youth have accused the Norwegian government of violating both the country's own constitution as well as the global UN climate deal from 2015 known as the Paris Agreement.
