Gas sector spends millions of euros lobbying in the EU

Gas lobbies are bombarding relevant EU commissioners with meetings to secure advantage in European policy. Lobby registers need to be improved in order to reveal the real influence of lobbies, says one organization.

The gas industry and its supporters spent over EUR 100 million in 2016 on lobby activities in Brussels, according to EU media EUobserver, citing a report from Corporate Europe Observatory.
