Shell buys Europe's largest operator of charging stations

The oil major has taken yet another step toward e-cars with the acquisition of a supplier of charging stations for electric cars.

Shell has acquired Dutch company Newmotion according to announcements from the two companies. Newmotion has over 30,000 charging stations across the Netherlands, Germany, France, and the UK, making it the largest operator of charging points for e-cars in Europe. 

"In terms of mobility, we are looking at how new technologies work together with traditional fuels," says Shell's Vice President New Fuels, Matthew Tipper.
