EU Parliament passes new gas cooperation rules

New rules mean that going forward it will be possible for EU nations to call for assistance from their neighboring countries if they suddenly face a gas shortage. Meanwhile, gas supply contracts must be made more transparent.

The European Parliament has just adopted new cooperation rules which enable EU countries facing acute gas shortages to activate assistance from neighbors.

The aim is to secure a sufficient gas supply particularly for households, district heating, and the most important social services such as hospitals, states the European Parliament in a press release.
