US oil major ExxonMobil has sued the US Treasury as part of an effort to avoid a fine for allegations that the company violated Russian sanctions in 2014, reports the Financial Times.
The US Treasury fined ExxonMobil with the maximum penalty of USD 2 million for "egregious" violations of the US sanctions against Russia. These violations took place under command of then-CEO Rex Tillerson who is now the US secretary of state.
