Maersk on the list of biggest environmental polluters

100 companies are responsible for more than 70 percent of industrial emissions of greenhouse gases since 1998, reveals a new investigation. Maersk Group is included on the list of the biggest polluters which is particularly dominated by oil companies.

100 companies have accounted for more than 70 percent of the industrial emissions of greenhouse gases since 1988, reveals a new report. The oil and gas sector in particular accounts for the biggest CO2 emitters. This includes Maersk Group, covering both carrier Maersk Line and oil business Maersk Oil.

According to the report Carbon Majors, Maersk has represented 0.11 percent of the total industry emissions of greenhouse gases since 1988, placing it at number 82 on the list. However, there is still a long way to go before it reaches the biggest polluters.
