Norway opens up Barents Sea for extensive oil drillings

Despite warnings from the Norwegian environmental ministry, Norway will now open up the Barents Sea for extensive oil exploration.

The 24th Norwegian concession round for oil and gas exploration will be exclusively concentrated on Arctic regions.

This is apparent after Norway's oil and energy department has published the exploration areas available in the 24th round. There will be 93 blocks on offer in the Barents Sea, and nine blocks in the Norwegian Sea, writes the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate in a press release.
