Company suspends COO amidst a huge corruption case

The British economic crimes police has launched an investigation of oil services company Petrofac in what has been dubbed the "bribery factory" case. The COO has been suspended while the CEO has been dismissed.

A corruption case concerning gas giant Unaoil continues to make headlines. In mid-May, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) in the UK confirmed that it had investigated the UK oil services company Petrofac under suspicion of corruption, bribery and whitewashing.

In an update issued Thursday, Petrofac wrote that it had suspended its COO Marwan Chedid, who is simultaneously stepping down from the board.
