It took a long time but oil is now flowing from the oil field Goliat in the Norwegian Barents Sea, reports Eni Norge, a subsidiary of Italian oil group Eni.
The Goliat field was discovered by Eni Norge back in 2000 but the company has only just successfully recovered oil from the field. Drillings were complicated, Eni Norge states, adding that the field is in deep waters, has a low temperature, and low pressure. Originally, it was under consideration to construct a submarine construction to lead the oil onshore through pipes. However, this plan was dropped.
