EU offers to negotiate Nord Stream 2

Denmark faces a tough balancing act over whether to approve the construction of a Russian gas pipeline through its territorial waters. The EU has offered to negotiate the issue on behalf of its members.

The EU Commission has offered to negotiate with Russia on behalf of its members about the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, according to Danish newspaper Politiken.

Nord Stream 2 is a Russian-owned gas pipeline to be constructed through the Baltic Sea and thus requires approval from Denmark, a decision with strong geopolitical and security implications.
