Dong CEO open to merger of oil business

Dong is willing to settle for continued ownership of its oil business after a merger with other companies. This could help restart the shelved negotiations with Maersk Oil, says an analyst.

The efforts to get rid of the major oil business at Dong Energy do not necessarily mean a divestment – the result could also be a merger with other companies, Dong CEO Henrik Poulsen tells Danish media Børsen.

"Of course we want the money, but we're open to a solution where we can see a sure road to money. This would typically be via shares in the continuing company," he tells the newspaper.
