Maersk Oil back in the black

One of the most turbulent years for Maersk Group's energy activities has resulted in a positive bottom line. However, the group is still struggling and the chairman of 14 years is stepping down.

Maersk Oil has booked a positive result of USD 477 million (EUR 447 million) in 2016 which is a solid improvement compared to the previous year, according to the company's annual report which has just been released.

The oil company's improved bottom line should, however, be viewed in light of a clearly reduced top line, where revenue declined during the year by approximately USD 800 million.
