Bladt: Layoffs will make us competitive in new price range

The record-low bids from Dong and Vattenfall on offshore wind farms in the Netherlands and Denmark are partly why Bladt Industries is now reducing its staff.

Constructing the massive monopiles for offshore wind farms is a specialty of Denmark's Bladt Industries, but the process must be more efficient with increased automation.

This is according to Jan Kjærsgaard, CEO of Bladt Industries. The company has just announced a round of layoffs to its staff. Between 80 and 90 salaried workers in the company will be fired, while 140 affiliated employees will not see their temporary contracts renewed upon expiration.
