We will still be driving gasoline cars in 2040 while oil and gas will have taken the throne from coal as the most used energy source in the world, according to predictions from US energy giant ExxonMobil in the company's 2040 outlook.
The company projects that there will be 1.8 billion more people on earth in 2040 and that the middle class will have grown significantly. In order to cover the needs in air-conditioning, heating, and transportation, the world will use far more energy in 2040 than it uses now, predicts ExxonMobil.
