Norwegian oil company Aker BP accurately met its own deadline for the oil field Ivar Aasen. The first oil from the field was collected Christmas Eve, within the deadline of the four-year plan originally submitted by Aker BP for the construction of the field. Aker BP promised in the original plan to collect the first oil before Dec. 31 2016.
The Ivar Aasan field lies in the northern part of the North Sea shelf. The field holds approximately 186 million barrels of oil and is the sister field for the upcoming Hanz expansion which contains an estimated 18 million barrels of oil and will be developed after Ivar Aasen.
