Statoil permanently done with Super Puma helicopter

Norwegian oil giant Statoil will not use the helicopter type EC225 Super Puma ever again, regardless of whether or not Norwegian authorities choose to lift the ban.

Statoil is definitively turning its back on the crash-prone helicopter Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma.

Even if the Norwegian authorities decide to lift the ban, as the European authorities did back in October, Statoil's employees will not be flying on an EC225 Super Puma again, reports Norwegian media Stavanger Aftenblad according to offshore.no.
