If Denmark's two oil giants join forces as rumors would suggest, this would create an oil company that may not be particularly large on an international scale, and where the production focus would lie outside of Denmark.

Denmark's two major oil companies look set to merge.

Rumors have been floating for some time regarding a potential acquisition or merger between Dong Energy Oil & Gas (O&G) and Maersk Oil. Some have said that Maersk Oil placed a bid last year on Dong's oil assets but that the parties could not agree on price.
