Ruling approaches for huge oil compensation case in Denmark

The dispute over compensation claims regarding the troubled Danish Siri platform will be settled in a few weeks. According to a lawyer involved with the case, it is "extremely complicated" and called for an exceptional number of judges in the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court.

The money at stake is sky-high and the technical evidence is extremely complicated.

For this reason, the Danish Maritime and Commercial High Court opted to put all of seven judges on the case, compared to the usual three. The dispute has played out in court in recent months and concerns Norwegian oil company Noreco's compensation claims regarding the Danish oil field Siri, which has dealt with several problems.
