Equinor books new billion-dollar impairment on underperforming UK field

Shortly after announcing a big loss on gas contracts, the Norwegian oil outfit follows up with yet another billion-dollar impairment, this time due to a larger downgrade of the Mariner field.

The Mariner field, Equinor's first in the British sector, is now appraised to contain less than first thought.

Equinor thus downgrades its estimate for recoverable reserves in the vicinity by roughly a third from 275 million barrels of oil to 180 million.
