BP cuts a piece off its operational emissions

The British oil giant has managed to reduce the climate footprint of its operations but still has a long way to go to meet its climate target.

British oil supermajor BP has managed to reduce its operational carbon footprint by 16 percent during 2020, the company writes in a new sustainability report.

The reduction is seen in Scope 1 and 2 -- direct and indirect emissions related to oil and gas production. In other words, the cuts don't encompass consumption of the end products.
