Biden under fire for dialog on Nord Stream 2

A group of Republicans worry that the US president could be inclined to make a back-room deal with Germany on the controversial gas project.


It's no good if the US ends up going soft regarding planned gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, on which the nation has been imposing sanctions for more than a year, say several leading Republicans. They fear that new President Joe Biden will make a deal with Germany to let the pipeline be established, reports media Euractiv.

In a letter sent to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Republicans write that strong words against the project have not been followed by equally strong measures, adding that up to 15 new ships and a range of companies should be added to the sanction list.
