US deems sanctions on Nord Stream 2 successful

The US State Department sees progress regarding the country's ambition to halt gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.

Even though planned Russian-German gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 is only a few percentages short of finished construction, the US hasn't given up on its resistance to the project. Quite the contrary. The nation has imposed sanctions on all parties directly aiding the establishment of the pipeline.

Monday, the US Department of State announced that the sanctions are working, as a series of European companies have recently abandoned their efforts at Nord Stream 2, reports media Euractiv.
