BP drastically cuts oil exploration

The number of employees working to find new oil with British giant BP has diminished noticeably.

A few years ago, they were more than 700. Now, there are under 100 geologists, engineers and researchers employed in the division for oil and gas exploration at BP, writes news agency Reuters.

The department – which has in many ways laid the foundation for the supermajor's success through the years – has been reduced because BP needs to make room for its aspirations to transform into a zero-emission outfit.
