Fossil lobby on historic Danish oil stop: "All good things come to an end"

The most important thing is that framework clarity has been set for the North Sea, says sector lobby Oil Gas Denmark after a broad political majority in Danish parliament agreed to close license tenders and stop all fossil energy extraction by 2050 at the latest.

It's unusual to see a trade association show support for a policy agreement that sets a crystal-clear end date for the industry it represents.

Nonetheless, that's the stance taken by Oil Gas Denmark, which commends Denmark's policy update from Thursday to quit oil and gas by 2050, also entailing a moratorium on further licensing tenders.
