Oil prices slide on record infections and virus restrictions

A barrel of European reference crude Brent Thursday morning costs USD 44.14 against USD 44.47 Wednesday afternoon CET. US benchmark oil West Texas Intermediate concurrently trades at USD 41.52 against USD 41.92.

The US death toll for people infected with Covid-19 in the US passed 250,000 on Wednesday, and New York City closed its schools following a surge in infections.
