Equinor shuts LNG facility for up to two years following fire

Hammerfest LNG is hit so hard by fire damage that the facility could remain closed until October next year, the operator, Equinor, informs.

The scope of damage from a fire that occurred on Sept. 28 at Equinor's Hammerfest LNG facility now appears to be larger than first assessed.

Monday, the Norwegian oil company writes that the installation could remain closed for up to two 12 months while repairs are ongoing.
