Maersk Drilling takes step toward carbon negativity

With a new investment in US-based company Clean Energy Systems, Maersk Drilling will participate in developing a carbon-negative concept involving underground storage.

Californian company Clean Energy Systems has a proprietary concept that Maersk Drilling finds interesting enough to now support with an investment of USD 1 million.

Explained briefly, a full-scale version of the system will produce both fuels and electricity from biomass while also removing atmospheric carbon and injecting the gas into underground storages, thereby achieving negative CO2 emissions.
