Equinor CEO refrains from talk of binding climate targets

"We're being very careful about the terms and about committing," says Equinor CEO Eldar Sætre in an interview with EnergyWatch. He emphasizes that the oil firm will need help to transition but rejects the notion of dividing up its business.

Equinor expects annual output growth of 3 percent ahead of 2026. In the same period, the company will dial up its climate efforts so that increased commodity volumes will have as little climate impact as possible. Photo: Ntb Scanpix/Reuters/Ritzau Scanpix
