Flaring on Danish oil platform at ten-year high

The Gorm field accounts for nearly half of all the natural gas burned on the Danish shelf – a practice that's both harmful to the environment and a waste of energy. Operator Total pledges to markedly reduce flaring.

Danish oil and gas field Gorm's flaring figures have in the past year hit their highest point since 2008.

In 2018 alone, 41 million meters3 of gas were burned at the facility. That's more gas than was extracted from the field during the same year, according to the newest figures from the Danish Energy Agency (DEA).
