Offshore wind joins oil and gas in new endeavor

Danish company Floating Power Plant is at the head of a project aiming to make oil and gas extraction "greener and cheaper". The challenge lies in convincing the industry to bet on floating offshore wind, says the firm's CEO, Anders Køhler.

A more environmentally friendly method of extracting gas and oil may be on its way to the market.

Danish floating offshore wind specialist Floating Power Plant has joined with oil companies like Lundin and Semco and has received DKK 4.9 million (EUR 656,139) in subsidies from Denmark's Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP) for just that purpose.
