Big strike among Norwegian rigs workers canceled

In the small hours of the night, the trade unions representing Norwegian workers on a numbers of rigs reached agreement with the Norwegian Shipowners' Association to increase wages substantially. Thus averting a strike among 1,500 rig workers.

A looming large strike for a number of employees working on floating rigs in Norway was averted last night. This happened when the parties agreed on a new agreement following 16 hours of negotiations, writes Norwegian business daily Dagens Næringsliv.

Negotiations have been carried out by, on the one side, trade unions Industri Energy and Safe and on the other side the Norwegian Shipowners' Association as employer.
