North Sea strike avoided following new wage settlement

An extensive strike, potentially leading to major production losses in Norway, has been avoided, as parties have reached agreement following lengthy negotiations.

The Norwegian oil industry avoids getting hit by a strike, as the parties have come to an agreement early Tuesday morning, writes Norwegian daily Dagens Næringsliv.

The original pay negotiations between the Norwegian Organization of Managers and Executives and the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association broke down in early May, and negotiations passed to the National Mediator of Norway for conciliation. The parties met with the mediator on Monday but were unable to reach an agreement by the first deadline.
