Maersk: New fuel regulations the biggest change in 20-30 years

The cost for the entire container industry may amount to USD 15 billion, says Maersk CEO Søren Skou.

At the start of 2020, brand new shipfuel regulations enter force. This means that companies in the sector are obliged to emit far less CO2 than previously.

This task has been approached differently by shipping companies, with some betting on scrubbers, which cleans sulfur-containing fuel before emissions happen, while others engage in acquiring low-sulfur fuel.
