The major project at the Johan Sverdrup field has received authorities' approval for the project's second phase, according to a statement from the partly state-owned oil company Equinor.
The project is among the largest-ever on the Norwegian shelf, and the second development phase alone amounts to NOK 41 billion (EUR 4.2 billion).
