Swedish oil executives could be prosecuted for war crimes

The Swedish government has approved prosecution of the CEO and chairman of Sweden's biggest oil company for crimes against humanity in Sudan.

An unprecedented legal case could soon break out in Sweden.

The Swedish government has given the green light to the state prosecutor to prosecute Lundin Petroleum's CEO Alex Schneiter and Chairman Ian Lundin for alleged war crimes in South Sudan. The parliamentary approval was necessary in order to conduct a Swedish lawsuit on an indictment committed outside Sweden.
