Northern Drilling secures contract with Wintershall

Northern Drilling, born just one year ago in the shadow of the offshore crisis, has won a contract with German Wintershall. The company hopes to buy rigs in a market which currently offers some appealing prices.

Northern Drilling has landed a contract on one of its semi-submersible rigs with German utility Wintershall, the company announced in a press release.

The deal is worth USD 100 million and is an indicator that the Bermuda-based company has begun activities before expected. According to the prospectus to the listing on "the little stock exchange in Oslo", the company was first expected to begin operations in 2019.
