Denmark launches new bidding round for oil and gas in the North Sea

Several oil fields are being put up for tender by Denmark in the hope of inviting oil companies to drill for North Sea oil and gas. However, findings have been sparse in previous rounds.

Today, the Danish energy ministry is expected to open up a new tender round where companies can bid for licenses on several new oil fields, confirms the ministry to Danish daily Jyllands-Posten.

Interest in the tender round can be sensed in the industry, say several players including UK Ardent Oil, which is planning to bid if the company sees potential in the Danish underground.
