Equinor paints a grim picture of climate goals

Changing the world's energy consumption is going too slowly, says Norwegian oil giant Equinor. If the Paris Climate Agreement goals are to be reached, there must not any further delays.

There must not be any further delays from any entity, if the Paris Agreement's climate goals are to be reached. That applies to political bodies, industrial actors and consumers. That is the message of Norwegian oil giant Equinor, formerly called Statoil, in an energy perspectives report covering the next year.

Even though the Paris climate goals remained firm last year, emissions from both coal and CO2 increased during 2017. Demand for oil and gas in growing, and while electrification of the transport sector is happening, global sales of EVs are too low.
