Iranian tanker ship Sanchi drifted into Japan's exclusive economic zone, EEZ, Wednesday afternoon, the Japanese coast guard tells Reuters.
Strong winds helped drift the burning tanker vessel away from the Chinese coast, where it collided with a dry bulk vessel less than a week ago. According to the spokesperson, the Chinese authorities previously declined an offer from the Japanese coast guard to help handle the accident, noting that it would get in contact if it needed help.
