Weatherford International declines after shale oil divestment

Instead of a joint venture, Switzerland's Weatherford International has now decided to completely sell out of its shale oil activities.

Swiss-based oil service company Weatherford International has made the surprising decision to sell its shale oil activities, which were closed down one year ago, to US oil service giant Schlumberger.

The original plan was for Schlumberger and Weatherford to establish a joint venture for these activities.
