Danish-Norwegian hydrogen company makes breakthrough with Shell

A major order for Shell in California is the closest thing yet to a Nordic hydrogen company making an international breakthrough.

While electric cars are gaining ground in most western countries, hydrogen vehicles are not garnering the same attention. But both Toyota and Shell want to change this, and they will now invest a large sum in hydrogen stations in California.

To ensure the spread of hydrogen cars in the green US state, Shell has signed a deal with Danish-Norwegian Nel Hydrogen Solutions, which will supply seven hydrogen stations to California. The order constitutes the largest ever for Nel Hydrogen, which acquired Denmark's H2 Logic in 2015. It is also the largest, non-Scandinavian order yet for a Nordic hydrogen company.
