Netflix is a large-scale coal consumer

While companies such as Apple and Facebook are working to promote sustainable energy sources, this does not seem to be a priority at the world's largest streaming service.

Fans love tuning into shows such as "House of Cards", "The Crown", and "Lilyhammer" via global streaming site Netflix. But they may not know that watching these programs leaves a huge carbon footprint, writes Greenpeace, which has mapped out the energy consumption from the world's largest streaming services and social media companies a in a comprehensive report.

While companies such as Apple, Google, and Facebook largely use electricity from renewable energy sources, Netflix lags far behind in many of these aspects measured by Greenpeace.
