Porsche quantifies ambitions for luxury electric car

When the German car manufacturer Porsche launches its new electric car in 2019, sales are projected of about two thirds of Porsche's classic 911. However, this is still far from sales expectations at Tesla.

In about two years, Porsche expects to launch Mission E. The German venture on the electric car market was presented a year ago, and with the equivalent of 600 horse power, acceleration from 0 to 100 in 3.5 seconds, and the indisputable resemblance of the Porsche icon 911, the luxury manufacturer is naturally targeting the same segment as Tesla has since 2013 with its Model S.

To begin with, the German company's projections for initial sales are somewhat more modest than the always optimistic sales department at Tesla.
