Bill Gates-backed fund to invest billions of dollars in cleantech

A new private-public fund backed by the software architect's fortune plans to invest upwards of USD 15bn in European, US and British companies.

US and European companies that specialize in energy storage and green fuels can look forward to a new source of funds with deep pockets.

With Microsoft founder Bill Gates amongst the backers, the investment fund Breakthrough Energy Catalyst plans to inject USD 15bn (EUR 13.2bn) into the cleantech industry in Europe, the US and the UK, reports Financial Times.
