Tesla's German giga factory faced with opposition in race to meet deadline

Concerned local residents will get another opportunity to voice their opinions on an upcoming German Tesla factory, which now seems set for delay.

A forthcoming Tesla factory in Germany, slated to produce at least half a million electric vehicles per year, will now have an even harder time observing the deadline so far maintained by company CEO Elon Musk, Reuters reports.

Musk has previously said that he banks on being able to begin production in late 2021, but according to Reuters, the regional environment ministry decided on Thursday that an online public consultation in which local residents may voice opinions and concerns regarding the factory must repeat due to concerns that the process "did not comply with regulations".
