Wärtsilä earns less in the first quarter and sees orderbook shrink

The orderbook shrunk at Wärtsilä, which supplies numerous products such as power plants to the energy industry. The bottom line also took a dip, but the Finnish company expects higher demand in the near future.

Order intake and revenue have been relatively stable at Finnish Wärtsila, which nevertheless saw a decrease of the overall orderbook in the last quarter, shows a recently published report.

Here, order intake lands at EUR 1.2bn (USD 1.45bn), which is the same level as last year. At the same time, however, the orderbook had shrunk by 6 percent to EUR 5.4bn at the end of the quarter.
