Northvolt acquires US-based battery tech

US start-up Cuberg's battery cells will help the Swedish firm lower its costs tied to production of car batteries going forward.

Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt, whose investors include Vestas Ventures, announces on Wednesday it has acquired US-based start-up Cuberg.

The acquisition was made with the intent to gain access to technology that can improve the range of electric cars using Northvolt's batteries by 70 percent, the firm writes on its website.
