Finnish refinery giant calls Denmark's climate goal a bold bet

As Denmark's plans to cut climate emissions gradually fall into place, it seems the country will bank heavily on future technologies to achieve the 70-percent reduction target, says Finnish Neste, which wants into the former's market by offering a here-and-now solution for transportation.

When Finnish refinery giant Neste read about Denmark's climate policy and the objective of achieving a 70-percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions, it was seen a signal warning of a major overhaul of the Danish fuel market.

Neste is currently the world's larger producer of advanced biofuels. Thus far, however, Danish framework conditions on fuel mixtures – which don't incorporate carbon-offsetting options – have made the market irrelevant for the Finnish group.
