Chinese electric carmaker buys into Danish fuel cell firm

A Chinese electric car manufacturer has invested millions of euros in a nascent Danish company behind a new fuel cell that runs on methanol.

Only five months after the founding of Denmark's Blue World Technologies, Shanghai-based electric carmaker Aiways, which has a partnership with German EV producer Gumpert, and a series of other Chinese investors have injected approximately EUR 6 million into the new company, reports Danish business daily Børsen.

Blue World Technologies has invented a fuel cell that runs on methanol and thus is more reportedly more environmentally friendly than gasoline or diesel models. The Danish firm's fuel cell is planned for use alongside batteries in several thousand cars in order to extend range, the media reports.
